In 2010, I retired to Christchurch from Dunedin, where my paintings and etchings, had been collected for many years. I have worked in a variety of media; pastel, watercolour, and oils, (my favourite, with the soft sheen of the faster drying agent, Liquin). Having my own printing press here in my home gallery, enables etchings and woodcuts, often with embossings, to be produced as well.
The subject matter was largely the dramatic light effects on land and sea-scapes in Otago, but now in Canterbury, the noble Southern Alps also inspire the senses, deep shadows and glorious contrasts in these otherwise broad, flat plains.
I have been an exhibiting member of the NZ Academy of Fine Arts and of the Otago Art Society, and my etchings in particular, have been collected by clients in UK, Japan and Europe in the past years.
